Receive the new asset

How long does a crypto swap take?
It depends on the assets and network conditions. Same-network token swaps can settle in around a minute; swaps involving Bitcoin wait for block confirmations. These are estimates, not guarantees.
Can I swap BTC to ETH?
Yes, in the Bitcoin.com Wallet app. Bitcoin itself cannot trade directly on most decentralized exchanges, so a DEX route uses a wrapped version such as WBTC.
What is the difference between swapping and selling crypto?
Swapping exchanges one crypto for another and stays on-chain. Selling exchanges crypto for fiat such as dollars, which uses banking or card rails and a payment provider.
What is the difference between a CEX and a DEX?
A centralized exchange holds your funds, needs an account and verification, and matches trades on an order book. A decentralized exchange has no account: you connect your own wallet and keep your keys.

Order-book trading works differently from a crypto swap. Instead of accepting a swap quote, you place an order that is matched with other traders' orders. The first decision is usually whether to use a market order or a limit order.

How it works: the order matches against the best prices currently available.
Trade-off: execution is more certain, but the final price can move while the order fills.

Use when: the price matters more than immediate execution.

Trade-off: you control the price, but the order may never fill.
Illustrative example only: say BTC is trading around $100,000. You place a limit buy at $95,000. Nothing happens unless the market reaches your price and enough liquidity is available.
