Receiving Ethereum

To receive ethereum, simply provide the sender with your Ethereum address, which you can find in your crypto wallet.
Receiving Ethereum
Use the multichain Bitcoin.com Wallet app, trusted by millions to safely and easily send, receive, buy, sell, trade, and manage Bitcoin (BTC), Ether (ETH), and the most popular cryptocurrencies. You can create Ethereum wallets, send & receive ETH, and interact with smart contracts on the Ethereum network.

How do I know what my Ethereum address is?

You can find out your Ethereum address by opening your multi-chain Bitcoin wallet.

Every Ethereum wallet is a little different, but your Ethereum address will always be displayed somewhere within the wallet.

Here's what a typical Ethereum address looks like:

0xab41b92c6d43f4b7a670b65479f5bb809646602e

You can copy your address to your clipboard and provide it to the sender by email, messaging app, SMS, etc.

If you don't know what your Ethereum address is, here's how to find out:

  1. Starting from the app's home screen, scroll through your digital assets and tap the wallet you want to receive to (eg. "My ETH wallet").
  2. Tap the receive icon.
  3. Tap the clipboard icon to copy the address to your clipboard, then provide the sender with the copied address (by pasting it into an email or message and sending it to the sender). Alternatively, the sender can scan the QR code shown in your Bitcoin.com Wallet app. This will autofill your address in the sender's send field.

IMPORTANT: Sending digital assets to an address you don't control will likely result in the irreversible loss of your funds.

If you don't have an Ethereum wallet yet, we recommend the multi-chain Bitcoin.com Wallet. It's the easy-to-use, fully non-custodial Ethereum wallet trusted by millions. Here's how to find your Ethereum address in the Bitcoin.com Wallet:

How can I let people know what my Ethereum address is?

Your Ethereum wallet will allow you to copy your Ethereum address to your clipboard. Then, you just need to provide the sender with that address via email, messaging app, and so on.

Most wallets also provide you with a QR-code version of your Ethereum address. If you're in the same room as the sender, the sender can scan your QR code to get your address.

Can I receive ethereum to my exchange wallet/account?

If you are using a centralized cryptocurrency exchange, the process is the same as above (ie. find your Ethereum address and provide it to the sender). When you receive ethereum to a centralized exchange, however, you'll have to wait for the exchange to acknowledge it has received the ethereum and reflect the receipt in your account. This may take quite a bit longer (up to several hours) than if you receive your ethereum to a wallet you control (ie. a non-custodial wallet).

Is it safe to give out my Ethereum address?

You can safely give out your Ethereum address to friends, family, and acquaintances. No one can steal your ethereum using just your Ethereum address. They'd need both your address and the private key to it. However, you should know that, since the Ethereum network is publicly viewable, whoever knows your Ethereum address can easily find out exactly how much Ethereum you have at that address by simply pasting the address into an Ethereum block explorer like this one. They can also see every transaction you've ever made using that address. If you don't want people to see this information, you'll need to use a fresh Ethereum address. Luckily, that's easy to do. The multi-chain Bitcoin.com Wallet, for example, allows you to create an unlimited number of new addresses, and creating a new address is done with the touch a button.

TIP: to protect your privacy, it's recommended to use a fresh Ethereum address for every transaction.

How do I know which Ethereum address to provide?

Your multi-chain Bitcoin.com Wallet actually consists of multiple wallets, one for each of the blockchains we support. This means you have a BTC wallet, a BCH wallet, and an ETH wallet. Each of those wallets has its own address, so when you want to receive ETH, you'll need to provide the sender with your ETH wallet address. Further, for each digital asset, you can create as many wallets as you want. This may help you to organize your funds. For example, you can create one ETH wallet called "My ETH Savings", and another called "My ETH Trading Wallet".

Your ETH wallet, meanwhile, may contain several different digital assets. This is because the Ethereum network has many different assets or "tokens" living on it. These are known as ERC-20 tokens. Within your ETH wallet, you may have, for example, Tether (USDT) tokens that live on the Ethereum blockchain.
