How DOT to USD conversion works
Converting DOT to USD means working out what an amount of Polkadot (DOT), the native coin of the Polkadot network, is worth in US dollars at the current rate, or how much DOT a dollar amount buys. The converter above uses a live reference rate, takes any amount, from a single planck to millions of DOT, and works in both directions. The rate moves with the market, so the same amount can be worth a little more or less a minute later.
DOT units: planck
DOT counts to ten decimal places. The smallest amount Polkadot records is a planck:
| DOT | Planck |
|---|---|
| 1 DOT | 10,000,000,000 |
| 0.01 DOT | 100,000,000 (the existential deposit on Polkadot Hub, as of October 2026) |
| 0.001 DOT | 10,000,000 |
| 0.0000001 DOT | 1,000 |
| 0.0000000001 DOT | 1 planck |
Two things catch people out. First, Binance-Peg DOT on BNB Smart Chain counts to eighteen decimal places, not ten, so the same 1 DOT is a different raw number in a block explorer or a contract call. The converter prices both per whole DOT. Second, old prices: on 21 August 2020 DOT was redenominated so that one original DOT became 100 of today's DOT, which is why rates quoted before then look a hundred times higher. The price page explains how DOT's supply has changed, and the Bitcoin converter has the same kind of table for satoshis.
How the conversion is calculated
DOT amount × current DOT/USD rate = USD value
USD amount ÷ current DOT/USD rate = DOT amount
A worked example, at an illustrative round rate of $1.25 per DOT: 100 DOT is worth $125, 10 DOT is worth $12.50, and $50 buys 40 DOT. That rate is only there for the arithmetic. The live figure is in the converter, and for the chart and market data, see the live DOT price and chart.
What your DOT is worth vs what you can move
The converter prices your whole balance, including DOT that is staked. Bonded DOT, staked directly or in a nomination pool, is valued at the same rate, but once you unstake it stays locked for 28 days before it can be moved, swapped or sold. Its value today is not money you can reach today.
Every Polkadot account must also keep 0.01 DOT, the existential deposit (as of October 2026). Send everything or leave at least that behind; an account that drops below it is closed and the remainder is removed. As an illustration, at $1.27 a balance of 200 DOT with 150 bonded shows about $254, of which about $63 can move today. The buy page covers staking and the 28-day unbonding period, and the sell page explains selling all of your DOT.
Which DOT the rate applies to
The rate prices native DOT, the coin on Polkadot Hub. Other things called DOT track it, but they are not interchangeable, and that decides how you can convert them.
| What you hold | What it is | Priced at | How it converts |
|---|---|---|---|
| Native DOT on Polkadot Hub | The Polkadot network's own coin, at an address that starts with 1. Ten decimal places. | The rate above | Sold or swapped by sending it on Polkadot Hub |
| DOT in an exchange account | A balance on the exchange's books. The exchange decides which network you can withdraw on. | The rate above |
Why it matters when you convert:
- A converter shows one figure, but a Binance-Peg DOT swap is quoted in its own BNB Smart Chain market, so check the quote, not just the rate.
- A 0x… address and the ticker DOT in a wallet don't prove it's native DOT. Check the network your wallet names.
- Turning Binance-Peg DOT into dollars means a BNB Smart Chain route (swap it for BNB or USDT, then sell), not a DOT sell order.
The buy page explains native DOT and Binance-Peg DOT in full, and the sell page shows how to check which DOT you hold before you sell.
DOT against BTC, ETH, USDT and SOL
There is no separate Bitcoin-to-DOT price to look up. If you hold Bitcoin and want DOT, or hold DOT and want Bitcoin, the pair follows from the two dollar rates:
BTC/USD rate ÷ DOT/USD rate = DOT per BTC
DOT/USD rate ÷ BTC/USD rate = DOT price in BTC
| Pair | 12 October 2026 (illustrative) |
|---|---|
| 1 BTC in DOT | about 65,800 DOT |
| 0.01 BTC in DOT | about 658 DOT |
| 1 DOT in BTC | about 0.0000152 BTC (1,519 satoshis) |
| 1 ETH in DOT | about 2,011 DOT |
| 1 SOL in DOT | about 88.4 DOT |
| 1 LTC in DOT | about 51.5 DOT |
| 1 XRP in DOT | about 1.11 DOT |
The ratios change every day. To price an amount, convert it to dollars on the Bitcoin converter, the Ethereum converter, the Solana converter, the Litecoin converter or the XRP converter, then turn the dollars into DOT here.
DOT to USDT and USDC
USDT and USDC track the US dollar, so DOT to USDT comes out very close to DOT to USD, give or take any small drift in the peg, and most DOT trading is quoted against USDT. Both stablecoins also exist on Polkadot Hub itself, which is what searches for USDC on Polkadot are about: a stablecoin on the same network as your DOT, not a different price. Send a stablecoin on the network it was issued for. USDT on Polkadot Hub, on Tron and on BNB Smart Chain are different deposits, and swapping TRC-20 USDT for DOT is a cross-chain swap, not a Polkadot conversion.
Pricing is not swapping
This page prices DOT; it doesn't exchange it. A swap exchanges one coin for another at a rate that includes a spread and fees, so it returns a little less than the converter shows. Native DOT swaps on an exchange or a swap service that takes DOT on Polkadot Hub: check that the deposit page names Polkadot Hub (or Asset Hub), not BNB Smart Chain. Binance-Peg DOT swaps on BNB Smart Chain, for BNB or USDT.
Both routes are set out under swapping DOT for another crypto, and the buy page compares ways of getting DOT with crypto you already hold. Sending DOT to a Bitcoin or Ethereum address doesn't convert it; the networks don't connect.
Fees and limits when you actually convert
The converter shows a reference rate, not a quote. A real conversion adds the provider's or exchange's spread and fee. Rates also differ slightly from one venue to the next, because each has its own order book, and many quote DOT in USDT rather than dollars.
Moving native DOT costs a small network fee paid in DOT, normally a small fraction of one DOT. The Binance-Peg route adds BNB Smart Chain fees, paid in BNB. Minimum trade amounts are set by whoever runs the trade, and they vary by provider, payment method and region, so check the figure in the service you use. Whether you can buy or sell DOT for cash through Bitcoin.com depends on where you live; the buy and sell pages show what is available.
Converting is not selling
Converting here moves no money. To turn DOT into dollars in a bank account, you sell it: sell DOT shows the payout options and which DOT it can take. To get DOT with dollars, buy DOT by card or bank transfer, sent to a Polkadot address you control.
