What is a BNB wallet, and what is BNB Smart Chain?
Two things are easy to mix up. BNB is the token. BNB Smart Chain is the blockchain network it runs on. A BNB wallet is the app that manages the private keys controlling your BNB and any supported tokens held on that network.
BNB Smart Chain was called Binance Smart Chain until it was rebranded in 2022, so you will still see it written as BSC almost everywhere. It is EVM-compatible, meaning it runs the same smart contract format as Ethereum. That is why BNB Smart Chain addresses look like Ethereum addresses and begin with 0x. It does not mean the two networks are interchangeable. The same-looking address represents two separate balances on two separate chains, and sending on the wrong network can make the funds difficult or impossible to recover.
BEP-20 is the main token standard on BNB Smart Chain, roughly what ERC-20 is to Ethereum. The Bitcoin.com Wallet supports BNB Smart Chain, and supported BEP-20 tokens appear in that wallet alongside your BNB.
BNB is also what pays gas on BNB Smart Chain, so you need a small amount of it sitting in the wallet before you can move anything, tokens included. Any BNB Smart Chain address or transaction can be looked up on BscScan, the public block explorer for the network.
