VERSE is the native rewards and utility token of the Bitcoin.com ecosystem. It is used to incentivise usage of the platform’s self-custody tools, decentralised exchange, NFT and gaming features, and other Web3 services.

The token contract was deployed on December 7, 2022 (UTC). Trading began shortly thereafter on the Verse DEX.

VERSE is an ERC-20 token (Ethereum) and has been presented with EVM compatibility across other chains to facilitate broader access and lower fees.

Users can earn VERSE by participating in the Bitcoin.com ecosystem (swapping, staking, using dApps, engaging with the wallet). They can also hold it for perks, use it in the Verse DEX for liquidity or staking rewards, interact with NFT/gaming features, and receive discounts or special access in other ecosystem services.

Bitcoin.com purchases VERSE from the open market (via its DEX, OTC trades or third-party DEXs) and deposits the tokens into the “Verse Burn Engine”. These then accumulate until a burn is triggered, reducing circulating supply over time.

Since VERSE is integrated with self-custody wallets, users retain control of their private keys. As with any crypto asset, users should enable two-factor authentication, use hardware wallets if available, and follow best practices for storing and transacting tokens.

Activity within the ecosystem - such as usage of the Wallet app, interaction with dApps, liquidity provision on Verse DEX - is tied to the allocation of VERSE from the Ecosystem Fund and the burn mechanism. This alignment aims to ensure that token circulation and utility grow in tandem.

While formal on-chain governance for VERSE has not yet launched, Bitcoin.com has outlined plans to introduce DAO-style participation in the future.
