What we tested, and when. All results below come from swaps we ran on July 29 & 30, 2026, at the amounts and on the networks shown beside each. Rates and speeds move constantly. Yours will differ.

Author: Neill Velardo

Instant swap services sell speed. Send one asset, receive another, often without an account and usually within minutes. There is no order book to read and no balance to fund before trading.

ChangeNOW has operated in that space since 2017 and now positions itself as a crypto super app. What started as an instant exchange now covers a good deal more: a Pro account with cashback, a native token, staking, a portfolio tracker, a payments arm, and a lending product operated through a third party. Speed is still what the swap itself is built for.

Bitcoin.com tested the platform across two days in late July 2026, running real funds through the swap, a Pro account, cashback and staking, and documenting every transaction.

Swapping, Start to Finish

Three swaps were run during testing: two of them without an account, and one from inside a Pro account.

A 30 USDC swap into ETH, run on the floating rate with no account, completed 57 seconds after the deposit registered. The confirmation screen had quoted 0.0151389 ETH. The amount that arrived was 0.01513232, a shortfall of under 0.05%.

Floating mode works as the name suggests. The rate is an estimate until the swap settles, and the final figure can land slightly either side of the quote.

The swap screen. No account is required, and the quote and rate are shown before the deposit address is generated.

Fixed-rate mode removes that variability. A 25 USDC swap into ChangeNOW's NOW token locked at 65.88310715 NOW and paid out 65.88310715 NOW, identical to eight decimal places. The quote must be accepted within a short countdown, and the deposit sent inside a window of ten minutes before the lock expires.

Neither of those swaps required an account. A third, run later from inside an account, completed in 45 seconds. The fixed-rate swap took 62 seconds.

How the Pricing Works

The swap screen states that all fees are included in the rate, so the cost is carried inside the price quoted rather than added on top. Nothing is presented as an extra charge on the way through.

What that margin amounts to is not something this testing could establish. Separating a platform's spread from the network fees on both legs of a transfer, and from ordinary price movement while a swap is in flight, needs a controlled comparison across several trade sizes rather than the handful run here. Anyone weighing the cost is better served by requesting a quote for the amount they actually intend to swap and comparing it against the rate they could get elsewhere at that moment.

No additional charge appeared after any of the three swaps completed. Nothing is taken afterwards; the cost is built into the rate from the start.

Inside a Pro Account

Sign-up offered an email address and password or a social login. The Google route also required a six-digit code sent by email.

Pro operates in three tiers:

  • VIP, the free tier, with 0.1% cashback and one AML check per month
  • Emerald, at $15 per month, with 0.1% cashback and 40 checks
  • Brilliant, at $100 per month, with 0.2% cashback and unlimited checks

The three ChangeNOW Pro tiers as displayed in the account.

Cashback is credited automatically. A 10 USDC swap credited 0.0189611 NOW to the account balance 63 seconds after the exchange completed.

Payouts start at 100 NOW, roughly $35 at the price showing that day. No payout was requested during testing. The balance can also be put towards Pro subscription fees or marketplace items, which at the time of testing included a pre-order for a ChangeNOW debit card at 50 NOW.

Transaction history includes a PDF and CSV export. Both downloaded first time, and the CSV matched the transaction record exactly.

The AML address checker, which screens a recipient wallet before funds are sent, requires identity verification through a third-party provider and was not tested. The pattern is consistent: swapping requires nothing, while compliance tooling and the higher cashback limits require ID.

Staking, and a Button That Does Not Stake

Moving 65.88 NOW onto the Pro balance and pressing the large green Stake NOW button opened a pop-up asking for another deposit. A second attempt produced the same pop-up.

Support, contacted on the assumption of a bug, explained that there was none. According to the agent, NOW held on a Pro balance earns automatically and no staking action exists to perform. The reply arrived quickly and resolved the confusion.

ChangeNOW advertises up to 6.25% APY on NOW token staking, paid weekly. Bitcoin.com did not verify that rate. Rewards run on a seven-day cycle, the testing window was shorter, and no payout was observed. The reward is paid in NOW, so its value moves with the token price.

What Non-Custodial Actually Covers

The swap is non-custodial, funds pass through the service and arrive in a wallet the user controls.

The Pro balance works differently. Sign-up includes accepting the terms of NOW Custody, a custody service within the same NOW family of products rather than an unrelated outside party, and ChangeNOW has confirmed that Pro balances and staking rely on it. It is not the third party that operates the lending product. Staking required moving tokens off the wallet and into that balance, completed as an on-chain transaction.

Platform balances commonly work this way, and the structure is disclosed rather than hidden. The distinction is simply that non-custodial describes the swap rather than the whole of ChangeNOW.

Disclaimer
Swaps are non-custodial, and ChangeNOW never takes possession. The Pro balance, staking and loans are custodial and uninsured, held by ChangeNOW or its lending partner.

ChangeNOW is operated by CHN Group LLC in St Vincent and the Grenadines. It is not licensed by a financial regulator in the UK, EU or US.

ChangeNOW restricts some countries and some US states. Check the list before you start a swap.

Getting Funds Back Out

Funds on the Pro balance can be withdrawn to an external wallet. Testing converted the NOW to ETH inside the account, then withdrew the ETH.

The withdrawal required a code sent by email and a two-factor code, then confirmed on chain with a small network fee deducted. Identity verification was not needed to complete it.

The staked tokens carried no lock-up. From starting the conversion to the funds landing in an external wallet took under ten minutes.

Support Is a Genuine Strength

One live chat during testing, answered by a human agent rather than a bot queue, and the answer was correct and quick.

What This Review Does Not Cover

No loan was taken out, so ChangeNOW's lending product, which is operated by a third party rather than by ChangeNOW itself, sits outside this review.

Also untested: buying crypto with a card, since testing was funded with crypto rather than a card, and the AML address checker, which requires identity verification. The mobile apps, the Telegram bot, prediction markets and the platform's private transfer features were outside the scope of this test.

Closing Insights

ChangeNOW does the job it was built for well. Three swaps, none longer than 62 seconds, each landing straight in a wallet the user controlled. Two of them required no account at all. The fixed-rate quote paid out to the decimal. The exit worked. Support answered properly.

Cost is the open question. The rate quoted already includes the fee, and this testing was not set up to work out what that portion amounts to.

Non-custodial describes the swap rather than the Pro balance or staking, which rely on the NOW Custody service. Cashback is paid in NOW, with payouts starting at 100 NOW.

The platform has expanded well beyond the swap, on both the consumer and business sides. The Pro account features tested here worked as described, and the swap itself remains fast and clean. For a quick one-off swap into a wallet the user holds, that may be exactly the appeal.
