Open the app and choose to create a wallet, then pick the coin you want to start with. You can add wallets for other supported assets at any time.
Secure and back up your wallet
Turn on the passcode and biometric protection your device supports, then complete the backup in the app so you can restore access with your custom password if you lose or replace your phone.
Most beginners start with a self-custody mobile wallet: it is free, it takes minutes to set up, and you hold the keys from the first day rather than handing them to someone else.

Yes. The app is free to download and creating a wallet costs nothing. You still pay the network fee when you send a transaction, because that fee goes to the blockchain rather than to us, and buying, selling or swapping can carry its own fees.
Is the Bitcoin.com Wallet self-custodial?
Yes. Your keys are generated and held on your own device, so you control your crypto. No one else, including Bitcoin.com, can access or move your funds.
Who holds my private keys?
You do. The keys stay on your device, which is what makes the wallet self-custodial. It also means your backup is the only way to restore access, so completing it matters.
How do I create a Bitcoin or crypto wallet?
Download the app, choose to create a wallet, select the coin you want, then secure and back it up. You can receive or transfer crypto in straight afterwards. The five steps are set out in full further up this page.
How do I find my Bitcoin wallet address?
Open the wallet you want to receive to and tap Receive. Your address is shown as text you can copy and as a QR code the sender can scan. You can generate a fresh address whenever you like.
Which cryptocurrencies does the Bitcoin.com Wallet support?
Bitcoin (BTC), Bitcoin Cash (BCH), Ethereum (ETH) and supported EVM chains including BNB Smart Chain, Polygon and Avalanche, along with stablecoins such as USDT and USDC, VERSE and a range of supported tokens. Each asset gets its own wallet inside the same app.
Can I buy crypto inside the wallet?
Yes. You can buy, sell and swap supported assets in the app, and the crypto lands in a wallet you control rather than in an account someone else holds for you.
What happens if I lose my phone?
As long as you completed your wallet backup, you can install the app on a new device and restore access with your custom password. Without that backup, no one — including Bitcoin.com — can recover the wallet for you.
How do I log in to my Bitcoin.com account?
Account sign-in is handled at accounts.bitcoin.com. Note that a Bitcoin.com account is separate from your wallet: your wallet is restored from its backup on your device, not from an account login.
Is a crypto wallet the same as an exchange account?
No. A self-custody wallet keeps the keys in your hands. An exchange account is custodial: the company holds your crypto on your behalf, so you depend on it for access and rely on its security.

What is a crypto wallet?
A crypto wallet does not really store your coins. Your balance lives on the blockchain; what the wallet manages are the keys that prove it belongs to you. Your private key is what authorises access and signs transactions, which is why protecting it matters more than anything else you do.
That leads to the first real choice. With a self-custody wallet the keys are generated on your own device and stay with you, so nobody can freeze or move your funds — and nobody can recover them for you either. With a custodial wallet, such as an account on an exchange, a company holds the keys on your behalf. That is more forgiving if you lose a password, but you are trusting them with your money.
The second distinction is how connected the wallet is. A hot wallet runs on an internet-connected device — a phone or a desktop — which makes it convenient for everyday sending and receiving. A cold wallet keeps keys offline, which suits larger amounts held for longer. Plenty of people use both: a mobile wallet for day-to-day funds, something offline for savings.
